What is favor from the empire?
I suppose at moments in history
it did not destroy a people.
Favor may have even felt good,
consecrated.
But that never lasts.
The government will eventually
stand at the door and knock,
assuming a right for entrance.
They will not understand right will,
and the doors will be broken down,
the favor was only a sham
now that you've learned the good.
